The Department of Chemistry offers three degrees, Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Science in Food Technology. All three courses offer students theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of chemistry.
Graduates in Chemistry and Biochemistry often pursue a career in the academic field as teachers or researchers. Many students choose to study a further year at the Faculty of Pedagogy, Phnom Penh, to qualify as teachers. Due to the growth of Cambodia’s industrial sector, graduates can also pursue careers in the chemical and industrial sectors, in chemical laboratories and industrial factories.
The Bachelor of Science in Food Technology degree is a recent innovation, with the first intake of students to begin their studies in 2007. This course aims to produce key personnel with the knowledge and practical skills to assist in the development of the Cambodian food processing sector.
