At RUPP, physics education has been divided into three main components:

Classical Physics
Classical physics, also known as general physics, explains natural phenomena. The RUPP course in classical physics covers key topics including mechanics, electricity and magnetism, electrodynamics, thermals, waves, oscillation and fluids. Classical physics is taught in years I, II and III.

Modern Physics
The study of modern physics at RUPP covers the science of atomic and nuclear physics, including quantum physics and quantum mechanics, statistical physics, group theory, solid states and advanced mathematics. Continuing on from junior years, elements of modern physics are taught in years II, III and IV.

Applied Physics
The study of applied physics, or engineering, is also included in the Bachelor of Science in Physics degree at RUPP. This stream focuses on electronics and communication, as these are important areas for the growing Information Technology (IT) sector in Cambodia.
