ENG101-ENG410 English Language III-VI
English Language Support Unit
Years II & III, Semesters I & II
As most textbooks and research books in Cambodia are written in English or French, foreign language acquisition is essential for professors and students alike. The development of students’ knowledge base and research skills across all disciplines at the Royal University of Phnom Penh is an outstanding goal of this foreign language program.

CORE COURSES

SPH201 Technical Mathematics for Physics I
SPH210 Technical Mathematics for Physics II
Dr. Eap Ponna, Mr. Ing Heng, Mr. Hen Koy
Year II, Semesters I & II
In this course, students learn the mathematical groundwork they require for the further study and application of physics. Formulas and techniques covered include the unidirectional wave equation, curvilinear coordinate systems, differential operators, Laplacian equations, string oscillation equations, heat propagation equations, Fourier series and Tensor fields.

SPH202 Algebra
Department of Mathematics
Year II, Semester I
In this course, students learn about mathematical representations in the field of physics. They study algebraic methods, and learn to apply them to physics problems. By the conclusion of this course, students have a proven ability to solve problems in the field of physics, by using algebraic methods.

SPH211 Mathematical Analysis
Department of Mathematics
Year II, Semester II
This course, continuing on from Algebra in Semester I, builds students’ understanding of the use of mathematical principles and equations in the field of physics.

SPH301 Matlab Programming
Mr. Ngon Moi, Mr. Tay Vuthea, Mr. Chey Chan Oeurn
Year III, Semester I
Students learn the basic structures of programming languages, which they can use to make field calculations and draw complex graphics.

SPH302 Advanced Mathematics I
SPH310 Advanced Mathematics II
Mr. Ing Heng, Dr. Chhoumm Navy, Dr. Eap Ponna
Year IV, Semesters I & II
Students learn about the major problems that arise in mathematical technology, and explore methods of overcoming these problems. As part of this, students are introduced to new-generation calculating machines, which have simplified research in engineering and the physical sciences. Of particular focus will be matrix algebra, Fourier analysis, variation methods, the Laplace transform and non-linear differential equations.

SPH309 Data Communication
Mr. Ngon Moi, Mr. Tay Vuthea, Mr. Chey Chan Oeurn
Year III, Semester II

Students learn fundamental concepts in data communication and networking. Concepts covered include link protocols and components as well as types of data communication systems, including voice-band base, broadband data transmissions, terminal handling and data switching.

SPH401 Electromagnetic Waves
Mr. Ing Heng, Mr. Pring Sakharn, Mr. Sriv Tharith
Year IV, Semester I
In this course, students learn about the speed of EM waves, as predicted by wave equations. Students learn about the particle natures of electromagnetic waves, and about classic electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic waves, and waves as the cause of light.

SPH408 Plasma Physics
Mr. Ngon Moi, Mr. Ho Sok Bany, Mr. Him Nimol
Year IV, Semester II
This course describes plasma physics, which is concerned with electrically neutral mediums for positive and negative particles. Students learn about the actions of charged particles within sphere of influence, and the average number of particles in the Dobye sphere, as given by the plasma perimeter.
