IEN411 Communication Skills
Lecturer: Mr. Hor Soknak,
Year IV, Semester I
Students improve their oral and written communication skills by preparing and presenting written and oral reports. Students become familiar with different types of communication, including public speaking and networking. By doing so, they learn to use their language skills to communicate effectively in the workplace, in both oral and written forms, allowing them to establish and maintain working relationships.

IEN412 Introduction to Globalization
Lecturer: Mr. Nguon Pheakkdey
Year IV, Semester II
This subject acquaints senior students with the critical concepts of globalization. Students gain substantial knowledge of the dynamics of globalization, including its competing definitions, chronology, implications, policy issues and implementation. The core text for this course is Globalization: A Critical Introduction by Jan Aart Scholte (2005).  

IEN413 Intercultural Communication Skills
Lecturer: Mr. Pauv Ampor
Year IV, Semester II
In this course, students develop their understanding of other cultures and build their ability to communicate across cultures. They learn about the links between values, culture, systems and power and examine the different ways in which cultural misunderstandings occur. Students also learn methods for achieving desired communication outcomes and strategies to deal with communication breakdown.

IEN414 Customer Service
Lecturer: Mr. Nguon Pheakkdey
Year IV, Semester I
In this course, students learn about selling products and maintaining effective relationships with customers. They examine customer expectations, the key attributes of quality customer service, and practical methods to meet and exceed customers' expectations.

IEn415 Basic Computer Skills
Trainer: Mr. Song Bunmean
Year IV, Semester II
Students gain basic computer skills in typing and using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. They are also introduced to database terminology, design, and implementation, and using Microsoft Access.

IEN416 English for International Business
Lecturer: Mr. Theam Rottanak
Year IV, Semesters I and II
In this course, students learn to use English effectively and confidently in daily business transactions, including basic terms and vocabulary used in commercial business. They develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills through a range of tasks that closely reflect a business environment.

IeN 417 English for Hospitality and Tourism (not offered in 2007-2008)
Lecturer: Mr. Kuon Vannsy
Year IV, Semesters I and II
Students apply their language skills by communicating with English-speaking guests and negotiating with English speakers in the tourism industry. They also develop extensive reading and listening skills by studying texts and interviewing experts in the tourism industry, and increase the language accuracy and the speaking skills they need for job-related situations.

IEN418 Translation and Interpreting
Lecturer: Mr. Chan Sophal
Year IV, Semesters I and II
This course is designed for students who wish to become translators and/or interpreters. Students gain insights into the nature of translation and interpreting, and explore different approaches to translating, interpreting, language, and cross-cultural communication. They learn about decoding original texts, the creation of a universal-language semantic representation and subsequently re-encoding this representation into the target language through a multi-stage process involving the syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of both English and Khmer.
