minute audio document after 3 consecutive hearings. This course also introduces students to image analysis, by providing them with some notions concerning the way in which filmmakers use cinematic techniques such as framing and montage to present an image. Students become aware that an audiovisual document is not a natural or spontaneous medium which shows the reality, but instead is the result of a formal, codified construction process which aims to persuade an audience. As part of this course, students analyse TV5 programs, devising a framework for spotting and analysing cinematic elements. Finally, students learn to differentiate phonetic symbols and use correct French intonation and pronunciation, including correct nasal, throat and aspiration sounds. Students learn by repetition and reading aloud to compare sounds in Khmer and French. Students also examine phonology books and various articles, songs and plays as sources.
