Admission Requirements
RUPP’s M.A. in TESOL is a rigorous degree program. Applicants must possess an advanced level of achievement to be admitted to graduate study at the Department of English. Each applicant must meet one of the following strands of admission requirements:

A. Entry Requirements for former students of the Department of English at RUPP:

An undergraduate degree in B.Ed (TEFL) with an average score of not less than 60% in the final year. Some relevant teaching qualification and work experience (one year minimum).

B. Entry Requirements for Students with no background at RUPP’s Department of English:

An undergraduate degree (B.Ed or B.A), in social science or a related field from a recognized institution. A teaching qualification and work experience (one year minimum).

Evidence of strong academic or professional record with a minimum GPA of 3 (Accreditation Committee of Cambodia). An official TOEFL score of 530, ITP 550 or IELTS 5.5 with a band of 5 in writing. Those who do not have their official TOEFL or IELTS scores must pass a Proficiency Test administered by the Department of English.

C. Additional Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of prior learning may be granted for Units/Subjects completed at other institutions in the following courses.

Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL (40 %); Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics (40 %); M.A. in a relevant social science (30 %).

Note: Recognition of prior learning and experience may be granted on the basis of equivalent study undertaken at the Department of English. This is decided on a case-by-case basis.

D. Alternative Pathway
Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree from a department or institution other than the English Department at RUPP who do not meet the requirements set out above can enroll in the Certificate of Language Teaching Course, which is part of the B.Ed program offered by the Department of English. Those students who complete the course with an overall score of 70% or above are then eligible to pursue the M.A. (TESOL) program.
