Visiting of Dr. Scharff and Dr. Gotel from Pace University

Eclipse for Software Engineering
From Saturday January 5 to Thursday January 10, 2008, Dr. Scharff and Dr. Gotel spent three sessions teaching Computer Science and Master of Educational Technology students.
On Saturday January 5, they gave a lecture on "Emerging Collaborative Technologies for Teaching" and discussed teachers' needs and difficulties in integrating technologies into their teaching. This lecture was attended by Prof. Phal Des and his team of faculty, and the teacher students of the Master of Educational Technology.
On Tuesday January 8, they discussed the computer science skills needs in Cambodia, what is taught at RUPP, and investigated possible collaborations in programming and software engineering. Prof. Phal Des and faculty from the IT Center, Computer Science Department, and Master of Educational Technology participated to this meeting.
On Wednesday January 9, they gave a lecture on "Eclipse for Software Engineering" attended by computer science students and faculty.
Two collaborative projects came out of this visit: an experiment investigating the use of online assessment programming tools for teaching, and the use of Second Life for socialization on software development projects.
