Call for Application: 2027 International Priority Graduate Program (PGP)

The Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, Niigata University, offers the Global Education Program for Fostering Advanced SciTech Specialists with Practical Ability in Social Collaboration for those who wish to be matriculated in the Sciences and Technologies major.

This program has been granted as one of the International Priority Graduate Programs (PGP), Advanced Graduate Courses for International Students, by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and some of the successful candidates will be able to receive a scholarship from MEXT.

Therefore, the Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, Niigata University, now accepts applications for October 2027 admission from those interested in pursuing a master's degree in this program as follows.

Eligibility for Application at RUPP:

To qualify for this programme, applicants must:

  • Be a graduate or an ongoing undergraduate student who intends to graduate by September 2027 from the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Engineering at RUPP.

  • Have been born on or after 2 April 1992

  • Maintain a Cumulative Grade-point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 or higher

  • Possess an equivalent of the B2 CEFR level

  • Not be an applicant for the scholarship of another organisation.

What Students Will Get:

The student(s) selected by the G-DORM Project committee will be evaluated and nominated for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program. Students are granted a monthly stipend, coverage of round-trip travel expenses, fee exemptions for admission to Niigata University, and additional benefits.

Required Documents at RUPP:

1. 2027 Application Form for the MEXT Scholarship- The document must be printed double-sided
- Use the designated form
- Affix a photograph (4.5cm x 3.5cm), showing the applicant’s upper body, full face view with no hat, and facing the camera directly, to the designated area.
- Be sure to accurately enter the year and month of the entrance and graduation dates in the designated areas.
2. Field of Study and Research Plan- The document must be printed double-sided
- Use the designated form
3. An original academic transcript of records- The letter should cover scores from all the semesters the applicant has taken.
- Bring the original document issued by the Studies Office of RUPP.
4. A certificate of completion (or degree)- If the applicant has just completed their studies at RUPP by July 2027, submit the certificate of completion.
- If the applicant has successfully graduated from RUPP prior to 2027, submit a copy of the degree.
5. A letter of recommendation- The letter must be written by the dean of the applicant's faculty and be addressed to the President of Niigata University.
6. Abstract of thesis- Submit the abstract of the bachelor's degree graduation thesis.
- No specific format required.
- If the applicant cannot submit the graduation thesis, provide documents certifying the reason, such as that there is no thesis-related course available in the curriculum.
7. Proof of language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or TOEIC)- Score of B2 or higher in English in the CEFR or a score in an English language proficiency test such as TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS.
8. A copy of the International Passport- Submit a copy of the applicant’s international passport page, showing the applicant’s photograph, name, and nationality.

Kindly adhere to the written instructions. Upon receipt of the university’s nomination, students will be obliged to acquire and submit additional documents as required by the programme.

Application Deadline & Procedure:

Interested applicants must meet the specified requirements and submit the required documents to the IR Office, Room 219A, Building A, RUPP Main Campus, by 16:00 on Monday, November 2, 2026.
